New Team Members

Meet our fabulous new team members...

We have Caroline (top) who has joined The Reef team as a beauty therapist. Caroline is warm and caring with previous experience working in busy salons and spas. Caroline specialises in Minx nails, eyelash extensions, Indian Head and facials. Caroline has a thirst for knowledge and is soon to be studying reflexology!











Jo (Middle) has joined the team full time at the Front of House. Jo has experience working as a PA and the front of house of a busy beauty and tanning salon. Jo is happy to be taking care of your needs, assisting with The Reef's marketing and keeping the team organised! A warm and friendly person; Jo loves diving into a good book, travelling, can play the piano and speak spanish!

and finally Ana. Ana has joined the team as a beauty therapist and front of house member. Ana has plenty of customer service and admisitration skills behind her from previous jobs, before she decided to return to college to finally follow her passion is beauty therapy. Ana has specialises in Indian head massage and facials.

Beauty on a Budget

Make your own body scrub

A simple recipe...

What you’ll need:

* Sea Salt - 1/2 of a cup

* Olive Oil - 1/4-1/2 a cup

* Essential oil of your choice - a few

   drops (optional for sweeter scent)

Put the salt in a bowl and

gradually mix in the oil to your

desired consistency. Then add a few drops of essential oil if you wish to give it a beautiful

fragrance.

Apply all over the body, excluding the face, in circular motions and rinse off.

A Picture Dating Back 140 Years!

Whilst redecorating some of the treatment rooms and creating the double treatment room, the team came across an old family portrait.

We googled the photographer's details which brought us to a website with similar photos, so we contacted the man who runs the website and he has dated the photo between 1870-1880!

We are thinking the family obviously lived in the building years back and are hoping to find out more details soon.

Nail Trends 2011

Nails, Nails, Nails

Nails are a big thing at the moment. With gels, foils, an more nail art creations, there is so much choice! The leading industry magazine, Professional Beauty, has researched the top trends for 2011 and we've added our creations...

Adventurous Moons

In the last couple of years we have seen the half moons make a comeback. With Dita Von Teese sporting it regularly (painted by her nail technician, the fabulous Leighton Denny) it has been a glamorous twist from the French polish. 2011 will see things getting even more adventurous with diamond shaped moons and more! Have a look at our nail fashion images with Rachael showing off the new grey and nude colours from Leighton Denny with a coloured half moon and Katy demonstrating the diamond half moon in a glitzy blue!

Neutrals

Nude colours were big last year; the skin-toned manicure is creating a storm this spring. This time round will be nudes with metallic sheens and pearlised finishes. Light Grey is also going to be in demand.

Glitz and Glamour

Another big trend to watch out for is glitter, simmers and textures, seen on the catwalks this spring. Celebrity nail technician Lisa says her clients are making a strong shift towards textured designs "I'm seeing a lot of glitter and chunky glitter polishes," she says. "Minx is always popular but I now I may include layers or crystals."

Fabulous Funky Foils

That's lead us nicely on the Minx craze! Minx are foil wraps that give a high metallic shine that a polish couldn't achieve, there are also many interesting foil designs; such as brightly coloured flowers (right) and  polka dots. You may have seen them on many a celebrity in 2010 and I'm sure it will carry on through 2011!
